Cisco Unified Communications Training : ACUCW1 - Administering Cisco Unified Communications Workspace Part 1: Basic is a basic course designed for administrators who need additional training on adding and supporting additional phone lines in a business setting. This course will give the administrator the basic knowledge on how to access all aspects of the Cisco systems and many features they will also be able to pass down to their other employees.
Length of Course:
This is a five day course for 34 Cisco learning credits.
This course is offered as:
This course will benefit engineers, network personell and integrators who are responsible for the company's networks. This class can also be taken with ACUCW2, which is a more advanced class. Taking the two classes will enhance both education experiences.
This course is designed to help and better the understanding of all the network capabilities of the Cisco network systems. It enhances the knowledge base of those attending by covering many of the typical features of the Cisco network including: Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) v6, v7, and v8, Unity v5, v7, and v8, Unity Connection v7 and v8 as well as various Client devices. Attendees will also broaden their knowledge base in how to access CUCM administrative pages; allowing them to learn how to perform tasks such as adds, moves and changes to the network. This course also teaches those attending on how to add music to the hold feature of the network, so when customers are placed on hold, they hear music chosen by the network administrator instead of "Dead Air." In addition, other simple features addressed will be DND, MeetMe conferencing and how to use shared lines. The shared lines feature allow administrators to assign employees certain phone lines available, and they can also share those lines with other employees, making conference calls simpler. The network administrators attending will also learn the fundamentals of using barge and how to access and customize CUCM web pages for the company. Those attending will also learn the basic fundamentals of how to access personal voicemail for employees as well as how to assign employees with their own personal voicemail system. In this feature, the administrator will also learn how to customize the voicemail features including how to personalize a greeting and how to check the voicemail messages, this is a feature they will also be able to pass on to the individual employees.
In order to enhance the learning process, labs are also used throughout the course featuring the latest software available so the attendee receives actual hands-on training, instead of classroom only training. In all, the course is broke down into 32 different labs, including but not limited to: Configuring phones for video conferencing, this feature allows corporations to have a more realistic type atmosphere for conference calls, the caller is not just on the phone, but everybody involved can actually see those they are talking to, making more of a "Real-World" experience. Phone basic features, this allows the administrator to have a better and thorough understanding of the basic features of the phone systems, also allowing them to pass the information down to the other employees so they can also benefit from the knowledge. Unity connection greetings lab allows those who wish to establish personal voicemail mailboxes for each employee to have a better understanding on how to perform this task. This lab features how to go about setting up the entire voicemail system, assigning mailboxes to each employee and setting up a personal greeting for each employee. Once the administrator teaches the employee how to access this feature, the employee will be able to do the process on their own, without the need to call the administrator every time the greeting needs to be changed.
In addition to the above mentioned features, attendees will also learn how to understand the basic terminology of the Cisco systems as well as various elements of configuring multiple phone lines. Another feature of this course is that it teaches the attendees how to add and delete multiple phone lines, business needs change daily, the company never knows when a new line needs to be put in, or an older line deleted; this course teaches the administrator how to do just that. Similar to adding and deleting lines, this course also teaches the administrator how to add and delete multiple users too. Once again, companies never know when personnel situations arise forcing the administrator to either delete a user or add a new one.
This course is a hands-on course designed to train network administrators and engineers to use all aspects of the Cisco systems and take many of these features back to the company, teaching other employees how to use some of the same features. This course does not only benefit those attending, but the company as a whole as well.

The instructor was the best teacher I have ever had at any level. I learned more in the last 7 days than I did studying on my own for the past 6 months. The material was presented in a way that was easy for everyone to understand. He by far had the most knowledge of anyone I have ever met in the subject and I hope to learn more from him in the future.

Excellent instructor. One of the best I have had in over 27 years in the IT business. Genuinely cared about the students understanding the subject material and their success in passing the exam. She taught how to think and reason to pass the test. That is something not found in any text book.

Fantastic instructor! Really knew the material, and was adept at communicating in an understandable manner to those without an IT background. I couldn't ask for a more genuine, concerned instructor who had her students successful learning as the main motivator for everything she did. Simply superb!
- Timothy Dalhouse
Incredible instructor. The coursework covered 300 topics in 10 domains, and he was able to speak intelligently on all of them. Better, his teaching style was relaxed and informal, which lessened the feelings of impending doom about the exam we were about to undertake. He knew exactly which sections of the material to emphasize, when we needed a break, and in many cases was speaking ahead of the slides (he knew exactly what was coming up before turning the slides). Rare gem.
- Thomas Dunn
Georgia Tech Research Institute
One of the most intelligent and well-spoken instructors I have ever had the privilege to work with. His in depth knowledge of the 10 domains in CISSP surpassed my expectations as well as the expectations of my classmates. His teaching style kept the otherwise dry information very memorable and exciting. I would HIGHLY recommend this course to my peers.
National Institutes of Health
Instructor did a fantastic job of delivering a large set of very dense course material cogently to the class. She obviously had the material down cold and could easily break down elements of the different knowledge domains in clear explanations.
- Byron Caswell
There are no prerequisites for this course because it is an entry level basic course designed to help administrators to advance their training. This course is a prerequisite for many other higher level courses.
