QOS - Implementing Cisco Quality of Service

viewpricing

This authorized Cisco course provides students with the skills and in-depth knowledge needed to design, and implement, Quality of Service (QoS) on a network. As well as, troubleshoot any issues that may arise. The curriculum covers the different conceptual models; Differentiated Services (DiffServ), Best Effort (over provisioning) and Integrated Services (IntServ) and the implementation of QoS on switches and routers.

Also covered is QoS theory, possible design issues, and the configuration of various QoS mechanisms, facilitating effective QoS administrative policy creation. The course includes the review of case studies and exercises in a lab environment to help students apply concepts learned in a real-world scenario.

The course teaches students the rules of design and usage for various advanced QoS features. The course teaches essential QoS applications and technologies on both enterprise and service provider networks to build and maintain trouble-free multi-service networks that are optimized and efficient.

Number of Days:

The course will cover a total of 5 days.

Required Prerequisites:

ICND or equivalent experience.

Who Should Attend:

Network professionals looking to support multimedia traffic by employing state-of-the-art QoS techniques.

Detailed Course Curriculum:

Course Objectives

* On a converged network, explain the methods for implementing and managing QoS and explain the need for Quality of Service (QoS) implementation.
* On a converged network, explain key IP QoS mechanisms used to implement the different models and identify and describe the models used for ensuring QoS in a network.
* On a congested network, effectively manage network congestion using Cisco QoS queuing mechanisms.
* On a network, effectively limit the rate of network traffic using Cisco QoS traffic policing and traffic shaping mechanisms.
* On a low speed WAN link, successfully improve the bandwidth efficiency of the link using the Cisco link efficiency mechanisms.
* Using Cisco's best practices, correctly select the most appropriate QoS mechanisms for providing QoS on a given service provider or an enterprise network.

What You Will learn in the Course

* IP QOS building blocks
* AutoQoS configuration on WAN routers and Catalyst access switches with results monitoring.
* FIFO and WFQ queuing configuration on WAN routers with analysis and measure of network performance.
* WRED configuration on WAN routers to control traffic dropped during network congestion.
* CBWFQ and LLQ configuration on WAN routers to ensure latency and bandwidth guarantees.
* COS-to-queue mapping and WRR queuing configuration on a Catalyst 2950 switch.

Testimonials:

"The instructor was excellent, his teaching style and re-enforcing the topics with examples worked well . It  has been the best training I have ever had including location of the hotel to the training room, the food service (very good too) that saved many hours a day and the equipment was perfect for the tasks required of it.  Getting out of class at 10:30pm and being able to walk over to the room and starting the studying at 10:45pm was such a big help. Was it easy? Not at all, it took discipline before the class (on-line sessions) 45+ hours and during the class. I went to bed at 1am or later each night and was up a going by 5:30am every day.  Was I tired each day? Yeah but I signed up for a Boot Camp not a Skillpath Happy Hour. I got to catch up on my sleep Saturday PM AFTER I had the two exams passed!!  Also the staff were exceptional;  responsive and handled everything right away."
