Privately held, Fort Lauderdale-based accelerated training company Intense School said it now offers accelerated information technology training and certification in a virtual boot camp format. The school said it will offer its first virtual boot camp Sept. 16-2002.

Intense School promotional literature said the class follows the same format as its classroom-based boot camp, only online. The class will teach students how to install, configure and operate simple-routed local area networks, routed wide area networks and switched local area networks networks to increase bandwidth, improve response times and enhance reliability and quality of service, the school said. Students will receive four hours of lecture a day and have access to equipment in the afternoon.

Students will be required to have a minimum of 56K dial-up Internet access, but the school said it recommends a high-speed connection such as DSL or cable modem. The school also recommends that students have a Pentium III 500 or higher, Windows 95 or higher with Windows 2000 preferred, Internet Explorer 5.5 or later and a working sound card.

"Our goal is to bring to e-learning training what no other company has: proven classroom-based boot camp training online in an easy fit into your schedule format," says Barry Kaufman, chief technology officer of Intense School. Intense School said it will soon offer virtual boot camps for all its course offerings.
